In response to a request from British Prime Minister David Cameron, leaders of the EU28 will likely hold a vote (on 27 June) on the designation of former prime minister of Luxembourg Jean-Claude Juncker as the next President of the European Commission — decisions by the European Council are usually the subject of a consensus.
However, notes Corriere della Sera, if Cameron is willing to compromise: “in exchange for a concession on the question of Juncker” he could obtain a “pledge on the reform of the EU which, to some extent, takes into account his priorities.”
