With more than 32 per cent of the vote in Flanders, the clear winner in Belgian 25-May legislative and regional elections, which were overshadowed by a shooting at the Jewish Museum in Brussels that left three dead and one seriously wounded on the previous day, was the leader of Flemish nationalist N-VA, Bart De Wever. De Morgen wonders if he “may soon visit the king” in an attempt to form a federal government. However, the newspaper remarks that “a classic three-party coalition of CD&V [Christian democrats], Open VLD [liberals] and SP.A [socialists] — could obtain a majority” in Flanders.
