Ex-president Aleksander Kwaśniewski may face the State Tribunal on war crime charges, Rzeczpospolita reports. Prosecutors investigating alleged CIA secret prisons in Poland may file similar charges against ex-prime minister Leszek Miller and ex-head of intelligence, Zbigniew Siemiątkowski. At first, the investigation focused on potential abuses of power by public officials – to approve a CIA base in Poland – but today, writes the daily, prosecutors are certain that it wasn’t just a base but also that “terrorist suspects were held, and perhaps tortured, there,” which violates Art. 123 Par. 2 of the Criminal Code that penalizes the “torture, inhumane treatment or experimentation on prisoners of war.”
