Nuclear industry still doing fine

A hundred days after the accident at Japan's Fukushima power plant, La Tribune reports on "the Europe that's said yes to nuclear power." The French business daily points out that "while Germany, Switzerland and Italy are headed for a phase-out of nuclear energy, for many other countries that's far from the case." Among them are France, Great Britain, Finland, the Netherlands and Poland, which are currently building power stations. At the same time, the newspaper notes that the issue of safety "remains people's number one problem." And as Europe’s 27 member states prepare to conduct stress tests on their nuclear power stations, EU energy commissioner Günther Oettinger says that "there is no way to avoid investment to modernise facilities, and the industry will have to cover the cost."
