On the drum: “National Conscience”

German writer Günter Grass passed away on 13 April in the northern German city of Lübeck at the age of 87. His works include The Tin Drum and he was awarded with the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1999. He was one of the most influential European authors of the Twentieth Century.
