While the EU, Hungary and Poland tussle over the rule of law, Vladimir Putin prefers his EU anemic, and enjoys a soap opera revealing the weaknesses of liberal democracy.

The latest episode features the stalemate following Hungary and Poland's veto of the EU's multiannual budget and Covid recovery plan. All this while most Europeans are once again locked down. It can only comfort the authoritarian master of the Kremlin.
