The Irish government must begin providing monthly reports on health spending to the troika of international lenders (EU-ECB-IMF) as part of efforts to reduce costs.
According to a confidential report prepared by the European Commission, the troika is concerned at health overspending, the quantity of distressed mortgages and persistent high unemployment.
The findings will be discussed by a series of financial committees in the Irish and German parliaments and published before the troika’s next inspection later this month.
