A phrasebook of Romanian curses

"Fried up monkey," "slum monger", "yoghurt salesman", "mosquito". Such florid vocabulary may well become common coinage in the European parliament with the arrival of two Romanian nationalists, Corneliu Vadim Tudor and Gigi Becali. “Experts in the art of defamation, they’ve managed to make their language part of 21st century Romanian folklore,” exclaims Cotidianul. A catalogue of insults uttered by the two MEPs, formerly enemies, has livened up matters in the Romanian parliament. The Bucharest daily has therefore esdtablished a Romanian / English dictionary which “could turn out useful for translator perplexed by this uncommon idiom.”
